Every great sport needs great officials.
BMX appreciates the volunteers who dedicate their time as officials, from local club meetings right through to the national level. Support and training is provided for you to gain accreditation as an official and enjoy participating at the level you aspire t0.
BMX Australia’s Officiating Program aims to educate, assist and develop officials at all levels, so that they can support the sport of BMX in areas such as Scoring, Race Commissaire, Staging.
- For members who would like to assist at club racing. The manual provides advice on the basics into officiating at a BMX track. The course requires candidates to be 16 years of age, hold a working with children check (subject to state or territory requirements), read an online manual and complete an online quiz.
- For Level 1 officials who wish to assist at Open and State events. You will gain a deeper knowledge of officiating and advanced technical aspects of the sport. The course is conducted by State Associations using set BMX Australia guidelines. A working with children check is compulsory at this level. Contact your state office to register for the next course.
- For level 2 officials who want to officiate at national events and championships; this is an advanced course. The course is conducted at the National Championships and provides training and information at the elite level. To sit the course the candidates must be 18 years of age, have a working with children check, at least two years experience as an active level 2 state official and be nominated by the state association. The course is conducted by BMX Australia but you should contact your state office to register your interest for the next course.
