Courses
Level 1 Club Official
- Be at least 16 years of age upon application to be eligible for accreditation, and
- Hold a current BMXA membership (a minimum of Volunteer membership – click here if you are not a current member).
- Officiate at a minimum of five club events per annum
- Complete a questionnaire annually to confirm you are aware of any changes to the rules, if required
- Maintain current BMXA membership by submitting an updated volunteer form annually
Level 2 State Official
This course is for the official who assists with open and state level calendar events. This course deals more with the technical aspects of the discipline. After completing this level you will be qualified to officiate at State/Open events. The course is conducted by State Associations.
Course Pre-Requisites
Participants must:
· Be at least 16 years of age upon application to be eligible for accreditation, and
· Be a currently accredited Level 1 Official
· Hold a current BMXA membership (minimum of a Volunteer membership)
To complete your accreditation
In order to be recognised as an ‘Accredited BMXA Level 2 State Official’ you must attend a Level 2 State Officiating Course run by each State Association and complete all theoretical and practical elements of this course. It will be necessary for you to complete and submit the workbook and be assessed on the practical aspects of the course by an accredited assessor. You must be able to competently perform the duties of an Official at State level before being awarded the State Level 2 Officiating accreditation. Each Official must sign an Officials Code of Behaviour and adhere to the State legislation for working with children in the state which they will be working.
Once attained, your accreditation will be valid for four years. To maintain your accreditation during this period you will be required to:
- Officiate at a minimum of five Club and/ or Open events per annum
- Complete a questionnaire annually to confirm you are aware of any changes to the rules, if required
- Maintain current BMXA membership (a minimum of Volunteer membership)
Level 3 National Official
This course is an advanced course for officials who want to officiate at National events and championships. The course is conducted in conjunction with National Championships and provides training and information on the finer points of officiating at the elite level. To sit the course the official must have had at least two years experience as an active Level 2 Official and be nominated by their State Association. The course is conducted by BMX Australia.
